Source: EU may partially end anti-Russian sanctions in late 2016
BRUSSELS, May 25 (PRIME) -- The E.U. may partially abolish anti-Russian sanctions at the end of the year, a diplomatic source told PRIME on Wednesday.
E.U.’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini said earlier that the union is not discussing an extension of anti-Russian sanctions over the political crisis in Ukraine but plans to start talks on a rollover of the existing measures in a few weeks.
The source said also that Poland, the Baltic states, the U.K and Sweden were strong adherents of keeping sanctions against Russia, while Hungary, Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Slovakia believe that a time has come to partially or fully abolish them. Austria supports normalization of relations with Russia.
